About the program
Concordia Gallery is an experimental art education space. The Studio within the Gallery aims to establish each Residency as a visionary model made manifest in the social relations of students and artists as they connect in a world-centred art making process: one that orients students’ attention towards the world because that is where our existence as human beings takes place.
This ideology can be understood as ‘curating as pedagogy’ – an approach to teaching art (as a subject and a practice) through embodied knowledge. In particular, we often work in collaborative practices where the impetus is on the process rather than the object. This underpins all the programs at Concordia; an open domain dedicated to thinking and making as research – a strategy to manifest the principles of student-led learning.
