Newington College

Getting to Newington

Transport options

Newington College has four campuses in Sydney – our Senior campus for Year 7–12, our Wyvern House Preparatory campus for Year K–6 and our early Learning Centre are in the inner-city suburb of Stanmore. Our Lindfield Preparatory campus for Years K–6 is set amongst the beautiful bushland of Sydney’s northern suburb, Lindfield.

Each campus is well serviced by public transport and is easily accessible by car.

We understand that students from all over Sydney come to Newington, so the College also offers chartered bus services each day, and there are Government transport options on buses and trains.

Registering for bus services

Registering for a seat on the chartered Stanmore buses is easy using the Newington online payments system.

For casual use, students need to tap on and off with their student ID cards. Parents are billed for trips taken at the end of each month.

The NSW Government provides subsidised travel to and from school through the School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS). The SSTS covers travel for eligible students on government rail, government and private bus and ferry services and country coach/rail services for boarding students.

For government run services, parents of new students commencing at Newington who don’t already have an Opal card should apply for their Opal cards online.

If your child already has an Opal card, you don’t need to apply for a new one – just update their travel details online.

Conditions of travel

  • Subsidised travel is available to Australian Citizens/Permanent Residents only – overseas students are not eligible.
  • Students must always give up their seats for fare paying customers on government transport.
  • Free travel is only available to and from Newington from Monday to Friday inclusive and return journeys must commence before 6:30pm.
  • Travel passes are granted only for travel between home and the College campus and return by the same mode of transport. The most direct route to and from school must be followed.
