Newington College scholarships provide financial support and celebrate diversity, helping students from all backgrounds thrive in academics, music, sport, and leadership.
Scholarships are also a vital part of Newington’s commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant learning community. They reflect our enduring belief in the power of education to transform lives – especially for students who may not otherwise have access to such opportunities – by helping families to access a Newington College education.

Applications for 2027 Senior School Scholarships open on Monday 24 November 2025 and close on Friday 16 January 2026.
Applications for 2028 Preparatory School Scholarships are not currently open with dates yet to be advised.
All other scholarship applications have closed.
Overview of scholarhips
Through the generosity of our Newington community, in our Senior School we offer a broad range of scholarships, ranging from academic and music through to general excellence and all-rounder scholarships. We offer these opportunities to students that display exemplary character and commitment. Our dedication to diversity and social justice also helps to provide opportunities for students who would otherwise be unable to access a Newington education. In addition, our Preparatory Schools offer scholarships to children who are ready to lead, innovate, and inspire.
Scholarships are awarded to both new and currently enrolled students for partial or full remission of tuition or boarding fees.

Newington College scholarships provide access to exceptional learning opportunities for students who share our values. We are looking for students who have:
- strong academic, sporting, and/or musical ability with demonstrated reports that reflect academic potential and effort, sound character traits, and a potential to lead
- a willingness to participate in a variety of educational and school-related activities
- evidence that they enjoy active participation and achievement in co-curricular programs such as sport, creative and performing arts, and/or learning through service to others.
Scholarship students are highly committed to giving their personal best, and in doing so, act as positive role models for their peers and for our Newington community.
Each scholarship has different criteria that can be found on the individual scholarship pages.
We receive a high level of quality applications each year. Therefore, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted to receive an update on their application progress.

Academic Scholarships
Awarded to students of exceptional academic ability who demonstrate excellence across a broad range of subject areas.
Music Scholarships
Awarded to students who demonstrate excellence in musical achievement or show potential in strings, choral, brass/woodwind, percussion, keyboards, and/or contemporary music.
General Excellence and All Rounder Scholarships
Awarded to students who embody all-round excellence – demonstrating strength, enthusiasm and capability in co-curricular activities including sport and/or creativity, as well as a strong academic mindset and achievement, exemplary work ethic, and outstanding character and leadership.
Diversity and Social Justice Scholarships
Awarded to students from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds – including those of First Nations or Tongan heritage, children from refugee or asylum-seeker families, and others who face barriers to educational access.
Pioneer Scholarships
Awarded to new and current girls and boys who have demonstrated strong academic aptitude, exceptional character and leadership potential in the early years of schooling, and are eager to make a lasting impact.
Boarding Scholarships
Awarded to students from rural and regional areas.
