Means-tested Scholarships

Matching potential and promise with opportunity, Newington’s means-tested scholarships empower students from diverse backgrounds to thrive through a life-changing education. We aspire for these scholarships to create lasting change for recipients and their families through personal growth and opportunity, reflecting our community’s commitment to equity, inclusion and social justice.

About

Thanks to the generosity of the Newington community, the College has been awarding means-tested scholarships for almost 100 years.

These scholarships are awarded to students from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, including those of First Nations or Tongan heritage, children from refugee or asylum-seeker families, and those who face financial barriers to educational access.

Newington welcomes applications from well-rounded, enthusiastic students who demonstrate strong academic commitment and achievement, exemplary character, leadership and engagement across a broad range of disciplines.

Many of our mean-tested scholarships have been gifted by, or in honour of, individuals and families with deep and inspiring connections to the College. They include:

  • Chris Wild (ON 1991) Indigenous Scholarship
  • Phil Davis Mathematics Scholarship
  • F Stretton Jeffs Scholarship
  • Eileen M Johnson Scholarship
