About
The Year 11, 2028 Pioneer Scholarship for Senior Girls recognises students who have demonstrated sustained academic achievement, intellectual curiosity and strong academic potential.
The successful student will join Newington College in Year 11 in 2028 and have the opportunity to pursue either the HSC or IB Diploma. The scholarship seeks a student who is ready to embrace the opportunities available at Newington across academic learning, co-curricular activities, service, leadership and the broader life of the College, while playing an active role in Newington’s first co-educational Year 11 cohort.
2028 Senior Pioneer Scholarship applications open Saturday 31 October 2026 and close Friday 22 January 2027.
Year 5 2027 and 2028 Pioneer Scholarship applications are now closed.
To be eligible for a Pioneer Scholarship for Senior Girls at Newington College, applicants must be girls entering Year 11 in 2028.
Students must be Australian citizens or holders of an Australian Permanent Resident Visa.
Student selection is based on demonstrated performance in the Newington College Scholarship Test, sustained academic achievement from recent school reports, review of applications and supporting documentation, and, if shortlisted, subsequent interviews.
Students applying for this opportunity must demonstrate academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, academic ambition, effort, and engagement with learning through a range of supporting documentation. This includes:
- recent school reports demonstrating sustained academic achievement, effort and engagement
- academic awards, achievements from external competitions, where applicable
- demonstration of strong academic potential and readiness to undertake either the HSC or IB Diploma.
- evidence of leadership, initiative, participation, service and/or contribution within or beyond school provided in writing on an A4 document.
The Pioneer Scholarships for Senior Girls covers partial remission of academic tuition fees.
2028 Senior School Scholarships
- Applications open: Saturday 31 October 2026
- Applications close: 5.00pm, Friday 22 January 2027
- Scholarship testing:
- Year 7: Monday 1 February 2027
- Years 8–11: Tuesday 2 February 2027
- Shortlisted student interviews: March / April 2027
- Outcomes: Communicated to successful students during May 2027
