  • Newington College - Old Boys Lecture Theatre

We invite you to join us as Dr Simon Longstaff AO shares ‘Tiger in the Room’. This is our latest Community Event, brought to you by the Centre for Critical Thinking and Ethics.

Dr Simon Longstaff will explore why people fail to see ethical consequences in the moment – and how ethics sharpens our judgement to make better decisions.

Tiger in the Room
Too often it is ‘good’ people who make ‘bad’ decisions. When asked how they came to do so, their most immediate response is often to reply, “I just didn’t see it at the time.”

Is their not seeing a product of wilful blindness – or, perhaps, something more troubling in the human condition? And how does ethics help us better to see what we ought to do and thus make better decisions that, in turn, make for a better world?
