Newington’s Science and Engineering Challenge team finished second overall at the NSW State Finals, hosted by the University of Newcastle.

Having qualified through regional heats earlier in the year, the squad competed against the top-ranking STEM schools in the state across a series of practical engineering and analytical tasks. Students worked in timed rotations on complex tasks including bridge stress-testing, electrical grid optimisation, and structural modeling. The team held high positions across every event category throughout the day, narrowly finishing as state runners-up.
