Newington finished in fifth place at the annual AAGPS Chess Tournament, following a competitive series of rounds against rival GPS schools.
The College climbed into third position by the tournament’s midway mark before closing the day in fifth. Year 11 student Jono K delivered the standout individual performance of the tournament on Board 5, going undefeated with individual wins against Shore, The Scots College, Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview, and Sydney Boys High, alongside a draw against The King’s School.
