Newington’s Years 7 to 9 robotics teams secured a second-place finish in the Rescue Line Secondary division at the NSW RoboCup Junior State Competition, held at the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool.

Taking on 45 teams from across the state, the students programmed fully autonomous robots equipped with sensors to navigate a demanding obstacle course without any manual intervention. The teams carried out on-site sensor calibrations and code adjustments between rounds to handle tight turns and unexpected course breaks, finishing just points shy of first place on the overall state ladder.
