The first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 clash, between Arsenal and Porto. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were riding high after a string of impressive performances in the Premier League, scoring 21 goals in their last five Premier League games. They were expected to dominate. However, they found themselves frustrated by a resilient Porto side, failing to produce even a single shot on target during what turned into a scrappy affair.

The breakthrough came in the dying moments of extra time, thanks to Brazilian winger Galeno, who scored his 8th goal of the season for the Portuguese giants. Galeno’s brilliant right-footed strike from 20 meters out found the back of the net, leaving the Arsenal goalkeeper, Raya, helpless. This crucial away goal now puts Porto in a favourable position heading into the second leg on March 12th.

Galenos (Left) strike from distance that sent the Estadio do Dragao into mayhem

Arteta, in his post-match interview, bitterly acknowledged his team’s lack of threat and called for more aggression in the upcoming fixture.
