For those who have walked past Moulton this term, you would have noticed the Moulton Christmas tree in the centre of our locker room. While it might look like we’re getting ready for Christmas, it’s not quite that time yet. Instead, Moulton House is collecting donations for Macleay Vocational College and the Kempsey community to help those who are struggling through this very cold winter.

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Kempsey. We explored much of the beautiful Dunghutti country, the surrounding areas, and the Eungai Creek campus, where Year 9 students have started visiting. However, the most impactful part of our trip was visiting and handing out food in the missions. These places are unlike anything I have seen before, and the people living there are facing immense challenges. Many houses are boarded up due to lack of funds, crime, and the residents struggle daily to make ends meet.

Being able to hand out simple items like muesli bars, fruit and toys, and seeing the joy on the children’s faces, really made me realize how fortunate we are and how grateful we should be. We’ve already received many donations, for which we and the community are extremely thankful. However, there is still plenty of room for more.

In the coming week, we hope to see even more donations around the tree from both Moulton boys and the wider school community, with a focus on non-perishable food items, new blankets, clothes, and toys. Hamper baskets would also be greatly appreciated to help us pack your donations. Every donation makes a positive impact on the community, and I strongly encourage everyone to contribute if they can.

Mr Muir will be driving the gifts up to the mid-north coast and help distribute to Macleay Vocational College, North St Mission and West Kempsey Mission.
