Alumni Recognition

Newington Medal and ONU Centennial Trust

Many individuals and families have made outstanding contributions to the welfare and future of the College through their voluntary support and participation in college life during and often beyond their children’s schooling.

These contributions are acknowledged and supported through the Newington Medal and the Centennial Trust.

Newington Medal

Established in 2006, the Newington Medal is the most prestigious award the College can bestow on a former student. It seeks to recognise Old Newingtonians whose contributions have made a significant difference to the quality of life of humanity, as well as to the College. Only one recipient is chosen each year, following nominations from among the community – with their achievements assessed against the following criteria:

  • Their contribution to their nominated field of endeavour;
  • The extent of the benefit of their contribution to the wider community;
  • The extent of the benefit of their contribution to the life and future of the College.

By awarding the Newington Medal the College aims to:

  • acknowledge alumni who have sustained the College’s vision through their post-school achievements
  • encourage greater association by alumni in the life, values and history of the College
  • Acknowledge alumni who are exceptional role models for current students.
