Alumni Benefits
The ONU provides a range of benefits to former students of Newington College. Membership is automatic upon graduation from the school, and these benefits are accessible to all members.
- Access to school reunions: The first reunions (5 year, 10 year and 15 year) are fully subsidised by the school – creating an opportunity to stay engaged with your class mates beyond your graduation day. Staying on the ONU mailing list is the best way to hear updates about the timing and location of reunions each year.
- Access to the Mental Health Fund: The ONU Mental Health Fund provides a pool of funding from which alumni can seek reimbursement for seeing a certified therapist, counsellor or psychologist of their choosing. Access is confidential and funding is disbursed by Stan Comino the school counsellor. There are currently no limits on how many sessions may be funded each year for alumni – we think financial cost shouldn’t be a barrier to maintaining mental health.
- Support for further study: The Centennial Trust is a bursary provided to outstanding alumni who have shown leadership and achievement in a particular field of study and are now seeking to further that work in graduate study overseas.
- Social events: Between reunions, the Newington Golf Day, Back to Newington Day, Head of the River, Old and New Theatre Company productions, business breakfasts and other events – there’s a slate of events throughout the year for alumni to attend and enjoy.
- An opportunity to give back: Newington changed many of our lives – and one of the roles of the ONU is to improve the experience of the next generation of students. By staying involved with the ONU you will have opportunities to attend career events for current students, provide feedback on school plans, and nominate for College Council positions to help shape the direction of the school.
