What is the ONU?

Founded in 1895, the purpose of the Old Newingtonians’ Union is to strengthen the bonds amongst past students and between past students and the College.

This is achieved through:

  • an extensive program of reunions and activities
  • monthly newsletter updating the community on the activities of the college
  • access to sporting events and results
  • careers and networking events for alumni and current students
  • mental health support for alumni
  • electing two alumni to serve on College Council each year

Upon graduation from year 12, Newington students are welcomed as ONU Life Members into the prestigious and extensive network of Old Newingtonians.

The ONU believes in fostering and supporting Alumni through:

  • regular events and reunions
  • access to the ONU Mental Health Fund
  • scholarships like the ONU centennial trust
  • Alumni recognition for outstanding contributions to the school and wider community
