Lindfield Prep K-6
A Newington education for boys from Kindergarten to Year 6 on the North Shore.
From the Head of Lindfield K-6
At Lindfield K–6 we seize every opportunity to nurture a learning environment that draws on each student’s innate qualities of enthusiasm and optimism. Newington College is dedicated to excellence in education for boys and helping each child realise their potential. The school provides a balanced curriculum encompassing the spiritual, academic, cultural, physical and practical areas of learning. Each boy is valued for his unique capacity to contribute to the life of the College.
Learning is in our Nature
Newington’s Junior campus in Lindfield (initially opened at Killara in 1957) began due to demand from families who wanted a Newington education available on Sydney’s North Shore. The Preparatory School has a strong reputation for its great facilities and friendly, engaging approach towards boys’ education.
A nurturing environment
The Lindfield Campus is surrounded by bushland. On site, we have a swimming pool, tennis courts, modern classrooms and beautiful gardens for boys to roam and feel free to learn in.
Offering the IB Primary Years Programme
Lindfield is an authorised International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) school. This means that Lindfield has partnered with the IB to provide a Primary school education that is holistic, values-based and employs the latest best practice to help boys learn how to engage critically and effectively with the ever-changing world around them.
Some of the many benefits of being an IB World School include access to an internationally respected inquiry based learning framework, excellent resources, the chance to connect with other schools around the world, professional development opportunities offered to staff by the PYP to ensure high quality teaching standards, ongoing support in the form of consultants, conferences, network opportunities and access to the latest global education research.
Our focus on well-being
Visitors to our school regularly remark upon the warmth and friendliness of both the students and staff at Lindfield, because when a boy joins Lindfield, we do more than enrol a student – we take in the whole family.
We believe that being a diverse community enriches us all and we seek to promote tolerance and encourage understanding of all differences.
Our ‘Well-being Program’ is all about teaching our boys about mutual care and respect: respect for oneself, respect for others, and respect for the environment.
We offer diverse co-curricular options at Lindfield Prep ranging from Chess to Robotics.
A comprehensive music tuition program is offered to all boys at LIndfield in addition to the Classroom Music program.
Sport is a great way to make friends and remain active. On top of our usual Sport program, Lindfield also offers Auskick AFL, Milo Cricket, Hip Hop Dance, Martial Arts and more.
Spirituality and Ethics
At Lindfield Prep, Chapel is held for Kindergarten to Year 6 on Thursdays. Chapel is conducted by our College Chaplain Reverend Peter Morphew. All boys also attend religious education lessons each week.
