In a competency-based course, assessment of competencies is standards referenced. This means that a student\u2019s performance is judged against a prescribed standard, not against the performance of other students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of assessment is to judge competence on the basic of performance against the performance criteria set down in the course. A student is judged either \u2018competent\u2019 or \u2018not yet competent\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">For HSC purposes, VET Industry Curriculum Framework courses may also be examined in a similar way to other HSC subjects with a formal HSC examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">University recognition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A number of universities have agreed to consider recognition of VET HSC course achievements.
