The course has changed significantly since the 2019 syllabus review when it transitioned from General Mathematics to Standard Mathematics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mathematics Standard Year 11 course is a common course for all students studying the Mathematics Standard Syllabus. In Year 12, students can elect to study either the Standard 1 course (ATAR or non-ATAR) or the Standard 2 course (ATAR only).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Standard 2 course provides an appropriate mathematical background for students entering the workforce or undertaking further tertiary training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Standard 1 course provides an appropriate mathematical background for students entering the workforce and\/or undertaking further community and workplace training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Prerequisites<\/strong>: None<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Content<\/strong>: The Mathematics Standard Year 11 course is <strong>not<\/strong> a calculus based course. It is a broad based applied mathematical course comprising of four Topics, divided into Subtopics. The Mathematics Standard 2 Year 12 course content includes the same four Topics and an additional Topic of Networks. The Topics and Subtopics, in brackets, are listed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Year 11<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 1<\/strong>: Algebra (Formula and Equations and Linear Relationships)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 2<\/strong>: Measurement (Applications of Measurement and Working with Time)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 3<\/strong>: Financial Mathematics (Money Matters)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 4<\/strong>: Statistical Analysis (Data Analysis and Relative Frequency and Probability)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u202fYear 12<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 1<\/strong>: Algebra (Types of Relationships)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 2<\/strong>: Measurement (Non-right-angled Trigonometry and Rates and Ratios)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 3<\/strong>: Financial Mathematics (Investments and Loans and Annuities)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 4<\/strong>: Statistical Analysis (Bivariate Data Analysis and The Normal Distribution)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Topic 5<\/strong>: Networks (Network Concepts and Critical Path Analysis)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><!-- section: section_text --><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assessments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Year 11&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">formal&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">school-based assessment program&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">will consist of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">three assessment tasks:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two<span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in-class tests<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A formal end of course examination<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A similar series of assessments will be followed in the Year 12 course.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Course Description This course enables students to develop their knowledge and understanding of what it means to work mathematically, improve their skills to solve problems relating to their present and future needs and aspirations, and improve their understanding of how to communicate in a concise and systematic manner.
