The syllabus includes the basic principles and concepts that are fundamental to the subject, some current applications of physics, and a strong emphasis on practical skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><!-- section: section_text --><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Aims<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enable students to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>acquire\u00a0scientific knowledge and understanding of scientific theories and practice\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>develop a range of experimental skills, including handling variables and working safely\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>use scientific data and evidence to solve problems and discuss the limitations of scientific methods\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>communicate effectively and clearly, using scientific terminology,\u00a0notation\u00a0and conventions\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>understand that the application of scientific knowledge can\u00a0benefit\u00a0people and the environment\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>enjoy science and develop an informed interest in scientific matters which support further study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><!-- section: section_text --><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Content Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students study the following topics, across two years:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Motion,\u00a0forces\u00a0and energy\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thermal physics\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Waves\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Electricity and magnetism\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nuclear physics\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"6\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Space physics\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><!-- section: section_text --><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assessment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Across Years 9 and 10, students will complete a range of internal assessments to measure their developing skills and knowledge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In October\/November 2028, students will complete the IGCSE Physics examination, which includes Multiple Choice, Theory and Practical assessment.
