Boys will take on a variety of roles as a means of exploring both familiar and unfamiliar aspects of their world while&nbsp;participating&nbsp;in theatre&nbsp;games&nbsp;and&nbsp;devising and performing both individual and collaborative work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Course Content&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Year 8\u00a0Production\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Improvisation\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Elements of Drama\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scripted Performance\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What will I learn?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students will learn basic stagecraft and performance skills through participation in theatre games, practical&nbsp;workshops&nbsp;and observation of others as audience members. They will learn the skills associated with improvisation, character creation and the manipulation of the dramatic elements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boys will develop their skills in scripted and unscripted performance, collaborating with their peers to create engaging and exciting performances&nbsp;including a fully staged Year 8 Play which is open to parents and friends. They\u202fwill learn to manipulate voice and movement to create theatrical characters and will reflect on and analyse their own work and the work of others in their&nbsp;logbooks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Drama Department at Newington is committed to creating classroom environments where students feel comfortable being risk takers.
